Cut-Resistant Gloves
HOW CUT-RESISTANT GLOVES ARE SPECIFIED
The European system of specifying the performance of gloves helps to select a glove best suited to your needs and application.
Gloves carry a specification code mark (see alongside).
The CE means the glove has been rated against a relevant European standard.
The 0120 is the code of the organisation which carried out the tests.
The EN388 over the shield with a hammer in it means the tests were related to physical or mechanical hazards.
The series of numbers under the shield rates four properties of the gloves.
first number
= resistance to abrasion
Ratings 0 - 4.
second number
= resistance to cutting.
Ratings 0 - 5.
third number
= resistance to tearing.
Ratings 0 - 4.
fourth number
= resistance to puncturing.
Ratings 0 - 4.
(the higher the number, the greater the resistance level).
When choosing a cut-resistant glove, the second number is the important one. Choose a glove graded “4” or “5” in the second position.
Used in conjunction with protective gloves to economically protect forearms from slash injuries.
Level 5 Cut resistance for best protection.
Elasticized for secure fitting.
Available in (09) Large and (10) X Large.
